At a meeting next week, the St. Louis Local Development Company will consider a resolution to use the balance of a low-interest revolving loan to allow Science Applications International Corporation to expand the company’s South Grand location. SAIC, the nation’s largest employee-owned research and engineering firm, is expanding its presence in the region and needs the space to relocate 50 jobs to its campus here.
The expansion will cost about $2.3 million, with the LDC revolving loan providing $220,000 of that total.
The company now occupies a former problem property — an historic, but badly deteriorated, car repair facility nicely redeveloped by Tim Boyle just north of Tower Grove Park. The expansion will bring new life to an adjacent historic building.
