Despite another set of disappointing achievement test scores by St. Louis Public School students, I have not given up on my efforts to find good schools for children in the City. Nor should any of you.
Too many public schools in the City are currently choices of last resort for low-income families and unthinkable choices for everyone else.
The attention of DESE’s Kent King and Gov. Matt Blunt, the continuing pressure for improvement by the region’s largest employers, and the earnest efforts of Dr. King’s new advisory group are all positive signs to counter-balance last week’s bad news.
