Rebar

For those who don’t know construction, “rebars” are the steel reinforcing rods that are essential to all concrete construction. Bridges, office buildings, and high-rise condos are all held together by rebar.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the Port Authority is scheduled to consider the sale of a property on Tyler Street to St. Louis County Properties, LLC. The site was environmentally challenged for years, and remediation work has recently been completed. The site will be used by Ambassador Steel, the largest independent manufacturer of rebar in the US. Ambassador intends to construct a new 40,000 sq. ft. building for its business, and plans for expansion with an additional 20,000 sq. ft.

Ambassador is currently located on North Broadway and employs 28 people. With the relocation and initial expansion, the company’s workforce is expected to grow to 40 workers.
