Last night and early this morning, thousands of City employees — police officers, firefighters, and emergency crews from almost every department and agency — mobilized to deal with the effects of one of the worst storms in our history. They did — and are doing — great work.

Today’s most important tasks are clear:

  • Keep vulnerable seniors and children cool and safe
  • Help the utility companies identify and repair the most critical outages
  • Restore basic traffic signals and rights-of-way
  • Ensure and enforce public health standards
  • Develop and maintain multiple lines of communications between emergency personnel and residents who need them
  • Inspect and secure those structures most affected by the storm

    We will do this together.
