A measure in the Missouri legislature that would require voters to show photo IDs when they cast ballots is a step in the wrong direction. At a moment in our state’s - and country’s - history when voter turn-out is near its low-point, why are legislators debating measures that create new barriers at the polls?

I think the effort would be better spent considering measures - like early voting, competent election workers, same day registration, and better voting technologies - that make it easier to vote and more certain that vote tabulation is accurate.
