I was not going to say anything about Terry Jones and his planned rally and book burning, but I have been asked my opinion of the subject too many times not to share it here. The Florida pastor has every legal right to burn a book, even though millions of people, including many St. Louisans, regard that book as holy. I have the right to say that his doing so would be outrageous, despicable, and wrong. American generals say that Jones' actions could make our troops more vulnerable; US diplomats say that his actions might make their challenges greater.

On their behalf, I say: Pastor Jones does not act for me. If you agree with me, say the same thing this week.
