Later today, I plan to meet with Sen. Barack Obama. I will tell him — and I am telling you now that I will enthusiastically endorse and support him. I want Democrats to carry the country and Missouri — and I strongly believe that the national election will be decided in St. Louis and St. Louis county, because we have the votes that will swing the most important swing state.
The policies that separated senators Hillary Clinton and Obama were mostly nuances; the differences between senators Obama and John McCain are much wider. The outcome of the election will affect us all. The election of Senator Obama will mean greater attention paid to the issues that most concern the residents of St. Louis: good schools, safe neighborhoods, economic policies that grow and protect the middle class, and strong support for the disadvantaged.
I will let you know how the meeting goes.
