A crocodile monitor is a lizard that can grow to fifteen feet long. Its claws and teeth are like razors — and unlike those of most other reptiles its top and bottom teeth scissor across each other. Crocodile monitors are smart and strong.

It does not seem like a good thing to have around the neighborhood . . . unsupervised.

A crocodile monitor was recently recaptured on California after it escaped from its teenaged owner in Compton Heights. According to the teenager’s mother, the monitor and the teenager are now enroute to Texas.

Good.
