Like the hip bone in the old song, everything is connected to something else.

The Loughborough Commons development has been granted a building permit for the construction of a Lowes Home Improvement Store. (A Schnucks store is already under construction.)

There will be a new Lowes because the demand for home improvement supplies has been bumped up by significant historic and other rehab activity in the Carondelet and Boulevard Heights neighborhoods — and throughout the City. And the new Lowes means that rehabbers in search of products not found at Home Depot and other City hardware stores and lumber yards will still be able to shop for alternatives locally — making more rehab even easier.

To handle the anticipated rush for powerful tools, new bathtubs, pavers, and drywall, I have been working with Alderman Matt Villa and Congressman Russ Carnahan to find improvements funding to widen Loughborough between I-55 and the new shopping center’s entrance.
