The National Weather Service has issued the first Excessive Heat Warning of the summer. Here is what we are doing to help people stay safe.

For the first time, the City of St. Louis will use our newly developed Special Needs Registry, a database of people who may need special attention during emergencies - mostly low income seniors and people with disabilities. Automated phone calls will be made to 3800 at-risk people with ways to protect themselves if they do not have air conditioning. The message will go out in English, Bosnian, Spanish and Vietnamese.

If you know someone who could be in danger because of the excessive heat, please contact the United Way at 2-1-1 to get help.
