Food Outreach is a local organization that matches up food and nutritional counseling to the people with life-threatening diseases who need it. By the end of next month, it will have fed more than 1,400 people more than 275,000 meals in 2006.

Beyond the usual vicissitudes of a volunteer-based organization, Food Outreach’s operation has been further stressed by the loss of more than $400,000 in federal funding. Yet, its staff, volunteers, and Board members have responded with even greater energy for their mission.

Thanksgiving week is a particularly apt time to reach out to others. Food Outreach executive director Greg Lukeman can suggest many ways to turn your time, energy, and money into food for St. Louisans who need it.
