Earl Wilson, Jr., founder of the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation, passed away last week.

Many St. Louisans have reason to be grateful for Earl Wilson's interest. His Gateway Foundation is a high profile athletic center and community meeting place; his work on the annual Gateway Classic has been the source of considerable citywide entertainment and pride.

But, 125 or so St. Louisans have a special reason for gratitude: Earl Wilson's hard work sent them to college with scholarships. Their successes will be his special legacy, and his City's asset.

RIP, Earl Wilson, Jr.
