Missouri schools superintendent Dr. Kent King has announced the appointment of a select board to advise him and his department on the steps necessary to improve education for the 35,000 students currently enrolled in the St. Louis public schools.
I strongly endorse his decision.
His choices as advisors are excellent ones: Dr. William Danforth, Frankie M. Freeman, Ned Lemkemeier, Michael Middleton, and Dr. Donald Suggs.
It is my strong belief that these five citizens will be able to make some timely recommendations for children whose best interests have been misplaced and whose educations have been bungled.
This is a good first step.
