  • The Edward Don Company, the world’s leading distributor of foodservice equipment and supplies, will open its first branch in the St. Louis region on Scott Avenue in the City. The company has been owned and operated by the Don family since 1921 and currently has branches in the Chicago region, and in Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Florida and California. Initially the company will employ 15 sales staff and restaurant designers here; as the operation grows, an additional seventy-five jobs are expected to be added.

  • SLDC staff have spent the last several months working with Marcal Lifting Products, a manufacturer located at 4052 North Broadway, on an expansion of their plant and testing facilities.

  • The SLDC commercial district managers have worked with Harris House on South Broadway to renovate the façade of this historic property. A respected member of the Carondelet community twenty-five years, Harris House offers affordable alcohol abuse treatment and rehabilitation and is a key player in the City’s 10-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness.

  • Hibbs Homes Inc. has recently completed construction of 3837 Russell. Staff says that this is the first new single-family home built in the Shaw neighborhood in a generation. A second home is already planned for the lot next door. The homes are being constructed on lots that were formerly owned by the Land Reutilization Authority, with prices starting at $300,000. (The first house has been sold, so you have to wait for Mr. Hibbs to finish the second one.)
