Do the City and St. Louis County’s municipalities have enough in common with the state’s other urban areas to speak with a louder and more unified voice in the state legislature and in the state offices that set policy?

That’s what I hope to find out next week as I sit down with the mayors from Kansas City, Joplin, Springfield, Columbia, Jefferson City, and St. Joseph to discuss a working alliance that will put together legislative agenda to present to the state’s next governor and to the leadership of the Missouri General Assembly.

The meeting will be at Lincoln University’s Memorial Hall. It is scheduled to last an hour and a half — which seems both too short and too long. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
