I first welcomed Hillary Clinton to St. Louis ten years ago. Then, as yesterday, I was privileged and honored to introduce her.

In that time, some things have changed. And some things haven't.

What hasn't changed is that our progress as a city and a state depends on who sits in the Oval Office for the next four years; it hasn't changed that we need a president whose understanding of the challenges faced by cities, particularly cities in the heart of America, is comprehensive and heartfelt.

What hasn't changed is Hillary Clinton’s dedication to children, to the uninsured, to the disenfranchised, and to seniors. What hasn't changed is Hillary Clinton’s intelligence, integrity, wit, personality, work ethic, experience, and demeanor. What hasn't changed is that Hillary Clinton is the most accomplished – and empathetic – candidate for president I have ever met. And, I feel comfortable saying this, that she is the most qualified candidate for president that any of us will ever meet.

One thing that has changed, though, and something I learned while I was campaigning for her in New Hampshire, is that I now know that Hillary loves chocolate.

So, thanks to Bissinger's, it was my pleasure yesterday to present Hillary with some chocolate to nibble en route to her next campaign stop. I hope that the sweet thoughts and a win here in November will remind her favorably of St. Louis. Don’t forget: we have a pretty long Wish List.

The world is watching America. Americans are looking at ourselves. Do we like what we see?

When we elect Hillary Clinton to be our President, we will have chosen a real leader. A leader who does not shy away from a fight that needs having, but also a leader who will work like heck to find common ground every time there is any.

Hillary is the President our country needs. She is the President St. Louis needs. And, I can tell you that she will have my full support, and, of course, my vote.
