I got a call today letting me know that Cindy Brinkley, president of AT&T Missouri, has been promoted. She will leave St. Louis this month to become chief diversity officer and senior vice president of talent development for AT&T Services, Inc. Her new job, unfortunately, is in San Antonio.

I have worked closely with Cindy on a number of civic and economic projects since she arrived in 2002, and I have often relied on her good sense, strength, and shrewd insight. She showed her personal commitment to St. Louis by taking leading roles in some tough causes, including the financial stabilization of the St. Louis Symphony. I will miss having Cindy only seven phone digits away — but her new job in workforce planning sounds like I will still be talking to her fairly often.

Cindy’s replacement will be David Nichols, who will be moving here from AT&T California. I will tell you about him when I meet him.
