The 82nd Airborne is one of the US Army’s most storied divisions. Its members have served well and bravely since the First World War. Its units are in harm’s way right now.
Today, members of The All-American Division dropped into City Hall to thank St. Louis for our hospitality during “Operation Gateway Arch” — their association’s convention. They said they’d been having a great time.
They thanked us for entertaining them. We should be thanking them . . . for their courage, for their sense of duty, for their sacrifices. If you see them around the Millennium Hotel or on downtown’s streets, please take the time to stop and thank them. Tell them that the current and past soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division, America’s guard of honor, will always be welcome in our City.
