2005 Crime Stats

I have asked MayorSlay.com to post the Police Department’s press release on the 2005 crime statistics. You can read it here.

We are a much safer city today than we were only five years ago. Chief Joe Mokwa and his police officers deserve a great deal of credit for that reality. As I have written before and as most of you know, many neighborhoods in the City are very safe places today. However, as the stats make too clear, a few neighborhoods are not.

My concern is for the moment five years from now when the Police Department reports the crime stats for 2010. I want all the neighborhoods of that future City to be far safer places than they are now.

That will require our re-doubled efforts.
