Mini Poll: A Hot St. Louis Summer
As of June 21st, it is Officially Summer in North America. But, as most St. Louisans will testify, it doesn't take a druid's knowledge of the position of the sun to determine what season it is in our brick oven City.
We all knew it was summer when normally conservative-clad folks along N. Grand broke out shortie-shorts and tank tops and when westbound Chippewa drivers had to swerve in order not to hit the Ted Drewes line snaking across the street. Oh, and the week of 90-degrees-and-above temperatures clued us in, as well.
So, how do you handle the heat? Do you head to one of St. Louis' free outdoor municipal pools? Do you immediately head to the Carondelet Schnucks to linger in front of the frozen-foods aisle and stock up on canned goods, just in case of a summer flood of the River Des Peres? Or, do you take Mayor Francis Slay's advice to call your elderly friends and family members to check up that they're keeping cool?
This week, we ask how you prepare for summer storms, what you do to beat the heat, and what your favorite things are about St. Louis heat. Answer these questions, and we promise not to peek over the fence to see you sunbathing...again.
